Suffering

In sharing in our Savior’s suffering, we become more like him in character and deed.

On Matthew 21:12-13

A LITTLE PRAYER

Teacher, teach me; I do not understand; do I flip this table over or on it lay myself down?

A LITTLE HOMILY

In a prophetic rage Jesus flipped over the money changers’ tables, financial predators who turned the house of prayer into a scheme to get rich quick. In prophetic resistance Jesus submitted himself to ignominious death on a cross, laying bare the folly of violence and reversing the curse of sin. With Jesus ever as our example, we must discern whether the moment requires us to loudly and publicly say No to the unrighteousness of the world - and suffer the consequences - or to quietly lay ourselves down on the altar of suffering, knowing Jesus’ suffering redeems our own.
